Food Philosophy

So why am I here? What do I have to share with the world?

I thought I would start with a topic we all think about daily – what to eat. Some think about this more than others, I’m sure everyone knows someone who thinks too much and someone else who could do with giving the topic a little more thought!

I work with food everyday both in my career as a food scientist and when at home. I love to cook and create in the kitchen, but it’s deeper than that too, I love the way food brings people together and shapes our lives, our bodies and our relationships.

I plan to record my thoughts on food here, I will return to this page to add new ideas and update my little theories!

First and foremost, food is big business, some of the most successful companies in Australia and around the world are in the business of making and selling food, not to mention those whose business is telling us what to eat.

It is the ‘diet industry’ and their ability to make money from information we all intrinsically know that is most amazing. Let’s face it, we all know that an apple is a healthier choice than a Mars bar for morning tea, so why the need for points systems, shakes, pills and programs?

Responsibility is key, is it really ‘my diet isn’t working’ or ‘my choices aren’t working’? I for one have decided to own my health, it’s no one else’s responsibility but mine to look after my body. I hope that ‘dash of ash’ can help others do the same.
